LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Eat More Art Vegas is highlighting the talents of the local Las Vegas theatre’s 2017-2018 season at the 5th annual Las Vegas Valley Theatre Awards. The exciting show will include the announcement of the winners as well as performances by some of the Valley’s best and brightest stars who entertain away from the Strip.

The Valley Theatre Awards show will take place Monday, July 16 at the Starbright Theatre, and is open to the public. Doors open at 6:30pm for pre-show cocktail time, and the ceremony will commence at 7pm. General admission tickets are available for $18 (plus a $3 service fee) here.

“We’re excited for this chance to highlight our vibrant community of local Theatre artists and fans at this special event. It’s a great introduction to newcomers, too. From poetry, to comedy, to opera, to Shrek Eat More Art Vegas is offering a real theatre buffet!”

The all-volunteer team of Valley Awards adjudicators selected winners in nineteen competitive categories honoring both acting and technical achievements in last season’s productions. In addition, two Audience Choice awards will be given to one play and one musical based on a public online vote.

Eat More Art Vegas is proud to announce local nonprofit Parts for the Arts as the recipient of the 3rd annual David Sankuer Memorial Hero Award. Accepting the award will be Parts for the Arts founder, Kathleen Mancuso Ortiz. Familiar to many in the Las Vegas artistic community as a performer/choreographer and a Teaching Artist at the Smith Center, as well as a life-saver to the teachers of CCSD, Ms. Ortiz founded Parts for the Arts to repurpose items from the community for use in underfunded school productions.

“The opportunity to help both teachers, who are severely underpaid, and students, who desperately need these after school programs, has been such a blessing in our lives.” – Kathleen Mancuso Ortiz, Parts for the Arts
