SIN CITY OPERA PRESENTS ALL NEW PAGLIACCI
Sin City Opera has created an astounding new production of the opera Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo. The opera now takes place on the set of the “Pagliacci Comedy Hour” a 1950’s style television show with a “Mad Men-esque” cast of characters. Instead of a chorus of local country folk we have a number of grips, best boys, gaffers, script girl, make-up and hair stylists, secretaries, and studio singers all battling with Canio’s (Pagliacci) incessant need for attention, played by tenor, William McCullough. His wife and television co-star Nedda, played by Soprano, Anna-Lisa Hackett deals with the abuse of her husband through an extra-marital affair with Silvio, played by Ianrod Gargantiel, our young hero in “The Pagliacci Comedy Hour.” Baritone, Andrew Gray as Tonoi, and Tenor, John Hammel as Beppe round out the rest of the comedy hour players whose actions finally lead to the destruction of the lovers, the television show, and this emotionally-disintegrating cast of players. Sin City Opera presents this production in cooperation with Phoenix Opera, through the casting of vocalists, Anna-Lisa Hackett and Andrew Gray in the production. Sin City Opera and Phoenix Opera will then present their first joint concert in Phoenix this spring. SCO Executive Director, Ginger Land-van Buuren stated, “As an emerging regional opera company Sin City Opera is dedicated to building relationships and sharing resources with other regional companies. We want to have the foresight and strategy in place to define Sin City Opera and Las Vegas as a contemporary opera hub of creativity for generations. We will continue to uplift our own operatic singers by sourcing additional outlets and companies for them to learn and grow from.”
