In every neighborhood, there is someone who makes the Arts a part of their life, and our community. You'd be surprised to discover how many different people use the arts to improve the quality of life in our hometown. EAT MORE ART! VEGAS will feature them regularly in our series "10 Bites."
What performing art do you do?
Actor, Singer, Dancer, Teacher, Director, and Photography Enthusiast.
Why do you do it?
I love telling stories.
What’s your favorite production/performance so far?
I played Otis Redding in HBO's "Vinyl." It was the first season of a television show so they put a lot of time, money and energy into the show. I got to work with Martin Scorsese and be apart of something exciting and new.
What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
I have been blessed to only work in the entertainment industry.
What memorable responses have you had to your work?
I did an episode of "Law and Order SVU" with Whoopi Goldberg and after my scene she told me "not to rush my moment because it was good and the camera needed to catch it". I mean, Whoopi Goldberg!
What would you be doing if you weren't performing your art?
I love Pyschology. The mind is so complex; and is as harmful as it is useful. I would love to learn more about the brain.
Name something you love about Las Vegas, and why.
I am from Texas, so I love the weather. Hot without humidity. I was living in New York City, so I love how cheap everything is here. The proximity to California is great and I love that Nevada has rivers, mountains, and the desert of course. Medicinal marijuana is cool too.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Talent doesn't beat hard work if talent doesn't work hard.
What superpower would you have and why?
I would be invisible!!! I have so many people I would love to creep on.
Any future projects?
I did the Book of Mormon on Broadway for 5 years before I moved to Las Vegas. This summer I will rejoin the company.
