The Speed of Darkness by Steve Tesich @LVLT

Twenty years after they came back from Vietnam to less than a hero’s welcome, Joe and Lou are still struggling to come to terms with the trauma of their tour of duty. Joe has captured the American Dream: a family, a thriving business and a chance to be South Dakota’s Man of the Year. Yet, question about what is was like to be over there, what he did to win his medals, stir up a rage in Joe that threatens to blow apart his carefully constructed world. Lou lives the American nightmare, homeless and shunned, wandering around America. Lou drops in on his old war buddy. Their poignant reunion is haunted by the ghosts of the boys they were 20 years ago. What happened to them and what they did in revenge could have consequences more devastating than even the horrors of the war.
